Pros: This was a lovely tale of romance in the midst of danger for a witch and a dragon. Ellie and Jayce want nothing more than to be together, but their two worlds are intent on keeping them apart because they’re just too powerful together. So they have to hide until the Tree of Life is in danger and only them, with their companions, can save it. The writing and the imagination in this story is top notch! I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes magic and dragons.
Cons: The similar names can sometimes be confusing on the mind-tongue and take me out of the story. Like Jasper/Jayce and Ellie/Emelda. Ellie and Jayce’s romance came on way too quick and too strong to be believable. It makes me think that they’re only in love because of the bond between witch and familiar and gives it a fake taste. Also, this story reads like a YA novel, but Ellie and Jayce are 18 and have a fairly obvious adult relationship. I can’t help but think that this would be much better if the trouble was turned up a notch and this was turned into a NA story.
